Andrew Sherogan is an interdisciplinary artist, educator and maker. Much of what has shaped his experience as an Artist is a profound curiosity and a passion for the natural world, natural materials and the landscapes they exist in.
Originally from New York, his early experiences in the Hudson Valley and art making led him to pursue a degree in Graphic Design from SUNY New Paltz with a minor in printmaking. Upon moving to Virginia 24 years ago he set his sights on K-12 Art Education. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University leading to two Artist in residencies at local high schools and 14 years of classroom teaching at both the elementary and high school level. In this capacity he fulfilled his love of service to the community while working to create a formative, playful and nurturing environment for his Art students.
During his teaching tenure he received certificates to teach CTE and International Baccalaureate level Art classes and worked for 10 years as a faculty member of the Central Virginia Regional Governor's school program for gifted artists.
During the pandemic his focus moved back to pursuing creative collaborations and making Art full time. This pursuit has led to participating in a number of group and solo exhibitions of his Art work and also includes teaching classes, woodworking projects, light installations as well as research and design consultation with LOCAL Design Collective. His next goal is to learn welding.
